My first blog!

Hello!

My name is Dhanik and I am a recent BSc Geology graduate from Kingston University. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Kingston University by taking part in its extra-curricular activities. I was the president for the Kingston Hindu society and the course representative for my Geology course. As well, worked part time in the sustainability department and as an ambassador for the university.

My Passion

Geology is the fundamentals of Earth Science and we could say that every man-made thing is due to geology. Even the phone/laptop/PC you are using to read this blog is due to Geology! Geology has evolved through decades, where we have developed our learning and have been introduced to new concepts and ideas from past historical information. I thought that this would be the very best way to show my passion, through blogging!

Research project undertaken in Cyprus

So how does sustainability and environment coincide with Geology?

Sustainability and environment are one of the core values of geology. Using the knowledge and expertise of a geologist we can develop new ways to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable in our approaches.

My dissertation was based on the Critical Raw material Tungsten and investigated the mine at Hemerdon (will talk further in another blog). The main concepts of the dissertation were the economic analysis and sustainability of the material. This naturally brought out my passion for economic geology.

I will be starting to blog weekly on matters arising in the geology world with an economic perspective as well as a link to the environment and sustainability. Leave a comment and subscribe for the latest updates!

Thanks for reading and can’t wait to start blogging!
